During the use of laboratory nitrogen generator, there are many factors that cause the purity of nitrogen to decrease. Among them, there are three common ones, namely:
1. Expired carbon molecular sieve: The quality of the carbon molecular sieve will deteriorate if the liquid nitrogen plant is used for too long, and the purity of the nitrogen produced will be low. The carbon molecular sieve needs to be replaced and the purity can be restored.
2. The flow rate is too high: The purity and flow rate of the liquid nitrogen plant originally customized will decrease if the flow rate is increased, and the purity will increase if the flow rate is low. It is recommended that the flow rate is not adjusted by yourself and requires professional instructions.
3. Solenoid valve failure: The solenoid valve is the main control of the adsorption principle. The failure of the solenoid valve can lead to insufficient gas production, decreased purity and other reasons.
In order to effectively avoid the occurrence of the above situation, and at the same time improve the stability and performance of the equipment, we should do the necessary maintenance work for the liquid nitrogen plant, specifically:
1. Bake the color-changing silica gel in an oven at 120°C for 12 hours. The molecular sieve is burned in a muffle furnace at 250°C-300°C for 24 hours.
2. When replacing the desiccant, you should pay attention to putting all the absorbent cotton into the tube to ensure that it has no effect on the sealed end surface, so as to ensure that the end cap can be sealed after being tightened.
3. Tighten it in the direction indicated by the arrow during installation, use soap to check for leaks after starting up, and ensure the seal.
4. It is not allowed to wrap various sealing tapes on the thread surface of the drying pipe without authorization, otherwise the drying pipe will crack and cannot be sealed.
5. The drying tube should be replaced regularly. When 50% of the discolored silica gel in the drying tube changes color, the internal packing should be replaced. Replacement method: turn off the power supply and vent the system gas (the pressure drops to zero). Unscrew the purification tube in the direction indicated by the arrow, unscrew the end cap of the purification tube, and replace the silica gel desiccant.
The periodic maintenance of the liquid nitrogen plant also includes the discharge of condensate water and the regular replacement of the gas filter device. Since the liquid nitrogen plant uses ambient air as the gas source, other filter devices must be replaced regularly, otherwise the filter device will fail. The organic pollutants in the ambient air enter the mass spectrometer through the drying gas and atomizer, which seriously affects the performance of the instrument and reduces the sensitivity and reproducibility. For users who use liquid nitrogen plant, it is strongly recommended to replace the dry gas purifying tube every six months to one year.
