The heatless desiccant air dryer is one of the commonly used air compressor post-processing equipment. Its function is to dry compressed air, which is used in industries that require dry air. The basic design principle of the heatless desiccant air dryer is:
1. Adsorption mass transfer and adsorption balance. The adsorption process is a mass transfer process in which water vapor in compressed air diffuses to the adsorbent and is adsorbed.
When compressed air comes into contact with the porous solid adsorbent, water molecules are adsorbed when they hit the surface of the solid adsorbent. At the same time of adsorption, some of the adsorbed water molecules leave the surface of the adsorbent and return to the airflow due to the collision of their own thermal motion and external gaseous molecules. When the number of adsorbed water molecules is equal to the number of water molecules leaving the surface of the adsorbent, the adsorption equilibrium is reached.
2. Regeneration of adsorbent. The regeneration method of adsorbent is divided into non-thermal regeneration method and micro-thermal regeneration method.
(1) Micro heat regeneration method. The micro-heat regeneration compressed air drying method is based on heat-free regeneration, appropriately heating the regeneration, increasing the regeneration air temperature, and reducing the regeneration air consumption. The working cycle is 30~60min.
(2) No heat regeneration method. The adsorption capacity of the adsorbent for water is proportional to the partial pressure of water vapor in the compressed air during adsorption. Using this characteristic of the adsorbent, the adsorption is carried out under pressure, and the regeneration is carried out under normal pressure or vacuum, thus resulting in a heatless regeneration compressed air drying method.
While keeping the compressed air pressure basically unchanged, reducing the temperature of the compressed air can reduce the water vapor content in the compressed air, and the excess water vapor will condense into liquid.
