The working principle of the heatless adsorption dryer and the introduction of the method of compressed air

The heatless adsorption dryer usually adopts a two-tower structure, one is used to dry the gas, and the other is used to regenerate the adsorbent. Currently commonly used suction container materials are sensitive to the temperature and molecular weight of activated alumina. At the same temperature, the water absorption capacity of molecular sieve is higher than that of activated alumina, and activated alumina cannot be completely used for desorption.

The regeneration tower and the adsorption tower must undergo a pressure balance process before switching. The process is controlled by the PLC control program. Each conversion means that the equipment has to go through a complete cycle. The control scheme generally includes dew point control and time control.
Since the entry and exit of compressed air is a continuous process, and the switching between the two towers is an intermittent process, there are two states that are not synchronized. When the regeneration tower performs the cold blast process, it must bypass the hot compressed air entering the equipment, leave the cooler and the cider separator behind and enter the drying tower. These processes must be implemented through the dryer control program.
The method of compressing air by heatless adsorption dryer is as follows:
  1. Excessive compression
The air is compressed to a pressure higher than the expected working pressure. This means that more water will condense during the compression process. When the air is cooled by the cooler behind the compressor, the excess water will be separated out. The air is then expanded to working pressure to obtain a low pressure dew point. Due to the high energy consumption of this method, it can only be used for low wind speeds.
  2. The refrigerant dries out
The process of drying refrigerant involves cooling compressed air to allow cooling and separation of large amounts of water. After cooling and condensation, the compressed air is reheated to room temperature, so no condensation will form outside the piping system.
  3. Adsorption and drying
The working principle is simple moist air flushing the desiccant to dry. When the desiccant is absorbed into the water, it will regenerate and restore its drying ability. The adsorption dryer is usually composed of two drying containers, one container is responsible for drying the compressed air contained, and the other container is responsible for regeneration.
